The timely Saturday Agenda included updates on topics currently relevant to psychiatry, such as latest developments in psychopharmacology, the use of technology to benefit treatment and work-life balance, considerations in telepsychiatry, addressing learning disorders over the lifespan, legislative update for the State of Arizona and APA advocacy update, and a Steven Pitt, DO Commemorative Forensic Lecture on Physician Safety. The meeting also offered peer physician and resident and medical student poster presentation opportunities, and included a social and networking reception at the conclusion of the education day on Saturday, April 27, 2019. 

Included as part of the registration for the 2019 Annual Meeting was the opportunity to attend a separately accredited educational session on Sunday, April 28, 2019 designed to satisfy satisfy the State of Arizona continuing medical education requirement for opioid education (see the Rockpointe flyer for more detailed information).

This full-day educational meeting targeted to psychiatrists and other behavioral health professionals, begins at 7 am with hosted continental breakfast, and 8 am for education. Speakers include Dr. Melanie S. Harned, from the University of Washington Behavioral Health & Therapy Clinics, with an Overview of DBT and Integrating Treatment for PTSD onto Dialectical Behavior Therapy for Borderline Personality Disorder; Dr. David Shprecher on Pediatric Movement Disorders; hosted Lunch, APS Business Meeting and Awards; Legislative presentations from APS Lobbyist Joseph F. Abate, Esq. and on physician leadership and advocacy by Arizona Representative Heather Carter; Neurotherapeutics: TMS and ECT presented by Dr. Katharine N. Woods; and a two-part presentation by world-renown psychopharmacologist, Dr. Sheldon Preskorn, on The Organ of the Self: Neurobiology and Psychiatry (a two-part presentation, which, among other things, explains our current understanding of the brain and how its dysfunction leads to psychiatric illnesses and how treatment from psychotherapy to psychopharmacotherapy to other somatic interventions (e.g., deep brain stimulation) alone and in combination aids the restitution of function thus ameliorating these illnesses). 
GENERAL LEARNING OBJECTIVES 
At the conclusion, the attendee should be able to:
a. Apply current principles of psychiatry and identify practicable interventions in one or more of the practice focus topics addressed in the Annual Meeting. 
b. Effectively and efficiently manage psychiatric conditions presented through updates in standards of care.
d. Learn new techniques, both pharmacological and psychosocial, and apply them towards the improvement of patient care. 
e. Keep abreast of current and new issues with in-depth presentations by authorities in these fields.
