2021 Annual Meeting
The pre-session on the evening of Thursday, May 20, 2021 celebrated our members and their contributions with the poster session, awards, and annual business meetings of the Arizona Psychiatric Society and the Arizona Society of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry. Thank you to the local and national presenters contributing to the 2021 Annual Meeting on issues key to responding to the evolving mental health issues for a peri-pandemic world. Those meeting faculty and educational topics included: Dr. Mona Masood, Founder of Physician Supportline, on reframing physician burn-out as moral injury; Dr. Ayana Jordan, Addiction Psychiatrist and Associate Residency Program Director, Yale University School of Medicine, on COVID-19 impacts to addiction and treatment approaches with emphasis on addressing treatment disparities in BIPOC; a panel discussion on education, the pandemic, and school-aged youth, moderated by Dr. Suzanne Don, ASCAP President, and joined by Arizona Senator and Educator Chris Marsh; Mesa Director of Student Support Services Leilani Scott; and Dr. Wendy Watson, Medical Director Valleywise Outpatient Clinic; Dr. Jose Maldonado, Associate Division Chief, Stanford University School of Medicine, on recognizing main risk factors for developing delirium in COVID-19 patients and evaluating non-pharmacological techniques and pharmacological agents in the prevention and treatment of the same; Dr. Brad Zehring, Founder of Zehring Clinic; National Psychiatry Director, Alsana: An Eating Recovery Community, on a comprehensive approach to care of eating disorders and co-occurring disorders; and a Legislative Update and Update on Parity in Arizona with APS Lobbyist Alexis Glascock, Past President and Government Affairs Chairs Dr. Don Fowls, APA Director of Legislation, Tim Clement, and Senior Regional Field Director, State Government Relations, Marsi Thrash.
