Dr. Christina Arredondo is a board-certified psychiatrist specializing in addiction psychiatry and public health. She serves as the Medical Director of Behavioral Health and Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) at El Rio Community Health Center in Tucson, Arizona, the state's largest Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). Additionally, she leads the MAT program for the Pascua Yaqui Tribe, where she previously served as Medical Director.
Dr. Arredondo earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Carleton College and her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Washington School of Medicine. She completed her psychiatry residency and public psychiatry fellowship at Yale University and furthered her expertise with a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
Recognized as a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association (FAPA), Dr. Arredondo is dual board-certified in psychiatry and addiction medicine. Her professional interests include public health capacity building, health disparities in Latinx and Native populations, addiction services, quality management, and program development.
Dr. Arredondo is also a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson, where she mentors and teaches medical students, psychiatry residents, and addiction fellows.
As a leader in community mental health, Dr. Arredondo has extensive experience working with marginalized and underserved populations, including transgender and gender-diverse individuals. Her expertise in healthcare disparities, culturally competent psychiatric care, and integrated behavioral health models informs her work in expanding access to gender-affirming mental health services. She is dedicated to advancing psychiatric care for transgender adults, ensuring equitable, informed, and affirming treatment in both clinical and community health settings.
Beyond her professional work, Dr. Arredondo is a dedicated mother to three young daughters. She enjoys traveling, music, home dance parties, and weekly movie nights. Fluent in both English and Spanish, she is committed to providing culturally competent care to diverse communities.
